Behind the cameras!

Updated: Nov 28, 2022

It's the 25th of November and the first day of LFH MUN 2022, which can only mean one thing; the opening ceremony. Now, I know that as delegates you were thrilled for that day to come, and don't get me wrong, I was as well. However, let me show you the conference from my point of view!

I woke up at six, got dressed formally, did my makeup, and ran to get there in time. It's natural for you to wonder why would I wake up at six when the conference beings at 9. As a member of the Press Team, I had to work to prepare for the ceremony, and trust me it was a tragedy! The weather was freezing and I was out there fighting against time, wearing a bright red t-shirt and a full face of makeup at 7 a.m.

After arriving at the French Institute we began working immediately, which was both demanding and fun. That was the case until I had to write a descriptive article for all of you to read, IN FRENCH. As a passionate journalist, I adore writing but I genuinely start to shiver when I have to write in my non-dominant language. Having said that, I enjoy writing and searching for colorful expressions and engaging ideas.

Funny thing is that it all turned out so well, the piece was completed on time and I even ended up enjoying it!

Everything seemed too good to be true. And I was right. My phone ran out of battery. This was a bit of a problem since I had taken all notes from the opening ceremony there. Thank God the other members of the Press Team had a charger, otherwise you would not have an article. See my issue?

During the rest of the day, we conducted interviews that turned out to be both amusing and informative. The members of the secretariat were incredibly helpful and eager to share their impressions of the project with us.

Moving on, I'm excited to share with you, dear delegates,

some inside information about the Press Team. The amount of miscommunication due to the parallel use of both languages was unreal! Now don't imagine I'm blaming anyone since I was the first to demand translation. However, it was honestly hilarious, a big mixture of different languages and expressions. We may seem as a perfectly polished, organized group, but we are far from that. We work with passion and creativity to pull off the event and make it as enjoyable as possible. We are young teenagers trying to make everything work. We are not flawless, but we are determined!

Determined at such an extent that we even invited “art” in this formal context. It has come to my attention from a secret source (Fei) that in this year's LFH MUN what has gotten great attention is the "magnificent" dance moves of the participants, as characterized by some.

All in all, this was a more personal point of view of this amazing conference. How about you? How did YOUR first day go?
