Dear delegates,
With the LFHMUN 2021 only two weeks away, we consider that it’s essential that all delegates understand the fundamental aspects of the conference they’ll soon be a part of. We have decided to regroup some Frequently Asked Questions that some delegates have transmitted us, and we are attempting to give you an exhaustive answer to those issues.
- Where does the conference take place?
Be careful! On the 26th of November, the conference will take place at the French Institute of Greece (“Institut Français de Grèce”).
On the 27th and on the 28th of November, the conference will be held at the LFHED (“Lycée Franco-Hellénique Eugène Delacroix”)
- It’s my first MUN conference: what should I expect?
The LFHMUN is a fascinating experience, during which a large number of delegates gather up to discuss major global issues. While the conference might seem ambitious and overwhelming at first, it won’t take you long to understand that everybody can contribute at their own level!
We strongly recommend you check you our “Beginner’s Guide to the Model UN” (Conference 2021 > Manuals): this document contains all the necessary tools to have a proper grasp of all major aspects of the conference.
The most important part of your preparation is reading your committee’s study guides and the redaction of three distinct resolutions that, through a precise structure, introduce the topic, your country’s position and your realistic solutions. Once more, there’s a detailed document that sums up all those steps: “Delegate Manual” (same page).
- How does COVID-19 affect the conference?
The conference obviously faces all restrictions linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. We therefore suggest you closely follow all safety protocols that have been decided by the Organisation Team.
A slight modification to the typical procedure will occur on the first day: during the lobbying session at the French Institute, the two alliances that will be formed based on the topic will be split in two separate rooms, in order to comply with Health Protocols that still apply there. Those restrictions won’t be in order at the LFHED.
Moreover, a fraction of delegations won’t be able to attend the Opening Ceremony at the Auditorium. We will give you further instructions a pair of days before the conference.
- What does the schedule look like?
We have published a detailed schedule on the conference on our website. In order to access the document, please visit the “Conference 2021” section, followed by “Program”. As a delegate, you have to respect this tight schedule, by being on time and by taking part in all the different parts of the conference. If you’re absent without having contacted the Secretariat in advance, your parents will be notified.
- What are the addresses of the venues?
Institut Français de Grèce : Sina 31 (106 80), Athens, Greece
LFHED: Trikalon 15, Agia Paraskevi, Athens, Greece
- How do I present myself?
The LFHMUN maintains an official status: there are some aspects of the dressing code, the general behavior and the level of language that have to be specified:
a) The LFHMUN 2021 will comply with the 2018 dressing code. You can check out the video created by our predecessors by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Up6F-yfHj6E
b) Likewise, you can watch all other videos by visiting the “LFHMUN” YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNCvPGsux2Qcxfkko5nWJHA
c) You can read the “Delegate Manual” in order to get a better understanding of what is expected of you. Details, such as using only French or English during the entire conference, refraining from using the personal pronoun “I” and from directly addressing a delegation during a formal debate, and complying with all debate regulations, can help you get a better feeling of this conference’s expectations.
From any further question, please contact us: lfhmun@lfh.gr. See you in about 10 days!
Greetings,
The Secretariat
